MISSION
STATEMENT
Many indigenous families in the Guatemalan Highlands surrounding Lake Atitlan live in poverty. Work is scarce, wages are low, and natural disasters are a regular occurrence. For these families, even the most basic necessities can be out of reach. MAYAN FAMILIES helps bring food, clothing, shelter, drinking water, education, and medical care to families in extreme need, because their reality is making the decision to either send their child to school to learn or, rather, to send them to the streets to make money or beg.
MAYAN FAMILIES operates on the principle that all people should have access to the basic necessities of life. We strive to accomplish our goals through working democratically with the communities we serve.
